Bird Problem: Part Two

Remember when I confessed that I have a bird problem?

Well, Allie has one too.  But hers is a little different from mine.

Her problem is with real birds - specifically, the ones in our backyard that are constantly taunting her with their loud chirping and obnoxious fence-sitting.  They require constant supervision through the sliding door.

And every time we go in the backyard, she's in charge of running around to make sure all the birds immediately leave.

Thank goodness we have Allie around to keep all these pesky birds away!

The Countdown

Ways to tell your dog is a rare breed:
5. Everyone asks you what kind of dog you own.
4. You recognize breeder names at the Westminster dog show.
3. When you take your puppy for her first vet appointment, the tech says, "I haven't seen one of those in a long time!"
2. Your spouse very excitedly calls you from a walk with the dog to tell you that someone in the next neighborhood has a dog that's the same breed!

And the Number 1 way to tell your dog is a rare breed...

1. You feel the need to write a blog post about your 'rare breed' dog.

Door Makeover

This weekend, J decided to makeover the door between our kitchen and living room.  Here's what the door looked like when we moved in:

Dabbling

We've been dabbling in house fix-ups lately.

When I got home from work on Sunday, J surprised me with a patched, sanded, and freshly painted bathroom ceiling!  We had a couple of nail pops that needed to be patched and the flat ceiling paint had to go (flat paint + humidity = bad idea).  So now it's a soft-gloss "cool grey" which looks beautiful!

We rearranged some furniture in the guest room (aka man cave) and office so both rooms look much more spacious.  It also opened up a space in the office for a "beachy" trunk which now houses extra pillows.  And the trunk folds flat for storage, too!

We also hung more things on the walls:

In the living room.

By the front door.

In the guest bath.
This is Allie's favorite piece of artwork.

It's a great feeling to be finished with major projects and just be working on things that would be nice to do.

Giving In

We tried for four months and now we're giving in.

Just look at this face!

Allie is now allowed on the couch - and she's loving it.  

And to be honest, we love it too.  Puppy snuggles while laying on the couch are the best.

The Office

It's time to show off what I've done with my new office!

Someone recently told me that I win the prize for the cleanest office in our building, so I think I've done a pretty good job!

This and That

We've been doing a little of 'this and that' around the house.

J worked on some drywall and paint touch-ups yesterday.  He also finished hanging the photo collage in our living room.

We added cute new potholders over the cooktop with a matching kitchen towel.

And we're still working - stay tuned!

6 Months

Allie is 6 months old today!

We celebrated by getting her stitches out and taking off her cone.

Our backseat driver on her way home from the vet.

Cone-free is the way to be.

Now it's time to play!

Kitchen Camping

Since we have a sick pup who can't sleep in her crate (the cone to keep her from licking her stitches is too big for her to fit inside), J has been sleeping with her in the kitchen.

This is love.

The Patient

I've been closely monitoring the patient this morning and here's what she's done (in addition to lots of potty breaks):

Needless to say, I've been getting a lot of work done on my laptop.

Pathetic Pup

Poor Allie seems to have a bladder infection on top of the complications from her pain medicine reaction.  She went for a trip to the emergency vet today and got an antibiotic.

Hopefully she'll be back to normal soon.  And she doesn't really want to visit the emergency vet anytime soon - it was super boring and took a really long time.

Sweater Weather

It has been so cold lately.  Well, except for mid-week when it was 70 degrees... I'm still trying to figure out where that came from.  But we paid for the warm day because we had massive thunderstorms.

This morning we had snow yet again, and our 10-day forecast shows three more days of snow.

I seriously think I need a sweater like this...

...except mine would need to have matching booties because my feet would get cold.
