Turkey Day Recap
Our turkey day meal turned out great!
I'd like to thank Martha Stewart for her herb-stuffed cornish game hen recipe, Emeril Lagasse for his bacon and green beans recipe, and Food Network for the slow cooker mashed potatoes recipe. We agreed that everything we had is worth making again, although in retrospect we should have made our own gravy instead of buying it - it's just not the same.
After our meal there was napping...
... and relaxing...
... and chewing (mostly by Allie)...
... and a workout to burn approximately 1/32nd of what we ate.
Thankful for a great day with my main squeeze and puppy!

It's Turkey Day!
Allie is thankful for her turkey & cranberry flavored dinosaur chew that she gets to enjoy today.
We're thankful for our little family, warm house, and delicious food to eat.
Here's our lineup:
- cornish game hens with herbs
- mashed potatoes and gravy
- stuffing
- green beans
- cranberry sauce
- baked apples
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

The butcher, the baker, the cabinet maker
And just like that, J has become a cabinet maker. He made a cabinet to use for storage over his new workbench and it turned out awesome! It even has movable shelves for more customization.

I love J's idea to use a peg board facing on the doors for even more storage.
Still to come: a matching cabinet and storage shelves between the two.

Family Photos
J is back from a fast trip to London. Allie was very excited when he came home!
We had our family Christmas photo taken today... by a pet photographer (yes, the dog has officially made us lose our minds). Allie is guaranteed to look fabulous in the photo! As for us humans, who knows what we'll look like. Our proofs should be posted online this week. Until then, here are some of the photos we used as inspiration...
... just kidding!
Maybe.

Hardwood
We found the most amazing hardwood shop yesterday and it's not very far from where we live!
We were looking for some cedar to use for a bathroom project (a new corner shower shelf) and some outdoor projects (a plant stand or potting bench for the porch/patio). This place has just about any type of wood you could want.
They also make things like tables, cutting boards, custom cabinets, etc. We picked out the planks of cedar that we wanted and they will be flattening and smoothing them before we pick them up tonight.
I see many more trips to this place in our future.

Tool Takeover Update
The plot thickens... I have now been enlisted as slave labor in the new workshop.
At least I get to wear cute safety glasses and hearing protection.
