Homecoming

It's homecoming weekend in Gainesville, and the crowds of alums in orange and blue apparel have descended upon the city. Since it's such a special weekend, Mother Nature has decided to treat us to come cooler temperatures. For this afternoon's game against Arkansas, we can expect it to be about 68 degrees at kickoff and 63 degrees once we've won the game. Should be a beautiful day!

Our tickets this week are on row 20 of the end zone near the band. Here's to hoping we're in a location where we don't have to hear the full force of the band throughout the entire game.

In a barely related side note, J saw an extremely cute sight while he was at the stadium picking up football tickets. There next to him, on a leash and harness, was a pet rabbit out for a walk with its owner. This picture isn't the actual rabbit, but it gives you an idea of the cuteness:

After seeing the rabbit, we learned some interesting facts about rabbits as pets (house rabbits):
1. Since their necks can break easily, they need to use a harness with a leash instead of just a collar. I'm not sure if the rabbit in the photo has a harness or not. This might explain his expression.
2. They can be trained to use a litter box and come when they are called.
3. They are social animals that like companionship, but don't like to cuddle (which is very disappointing since they are so cute!).
So, now you know a few things about rabbits that you might not have known otherwise.

If you plan to watch the game today on CBS, look for us in the stands. We'll be wearing orange and blue.

Weekend Visitors

Happy Fall! The pumpkins have started making their seasonal appearances in stores. Here I am with one of the gigantic pumpkins we saw in our Sam's Club (we estimate a weight of about 25 pounds):

This weekend, J's parents came to visit us. We had a nice weekend, complete with a visit to Kanapaha Botanical Gardens. Here is a picture of the bridge over the koi pond, along with some very large lilypads:
On our way to have a picnic overlooking Lake Kanapaha, we saw some beautiful little lilypads and flowers:

We also saw a Jabba the Hut caterpillar munching on leaves:

Overall, a great day with real, live nature and some special guests!

Football, Week 3

This week, we play Tennessee. Much has been made of Lane Kiffin's boneheaded comments in the media, but I chalk it up to 1) him being an idiot and 2) him trying to drum up some excitement for UT football. That was really his only option, since his record as a head coach (then) was 5-15 and it's tough to get people excited based on that statistic. He's done an excellent managing expectations headed into the game, though, as he can't do anything to lose at this point. UF is supposed to scrub the floor with UT so badly that anything short of a blowout will be a victory, and a blowout will just be meeting expectations. So, without further ado:

45-10 Gators. I also predict a Joe Haden interception AND a Will Hill interception.

I finally have the time to post some more pictures from my birthday last weekend. I've gotten some questions about what the famous cake looked like once it was cut, so here it is:

Many thanks to everyone who remembered my birthday with gifts, cards, phone calls, and emails. I felt so special! Here are the cards I received (and the roses J got for me):

I was also surprised with an amazing wedding scrapbook Colleen began making for my birthday. She already put together the cutest pages for the bridal shower, bachelorette night, morning of the wedding, and she even included samples of our save the date, invitations, and wedding program. Now, I'll get to finish it with our official photos from the photographer. One picture can't even begin to show it off, but here's a little taste for our readers:
